The video above shows our first test deployment test in the SVO elevator, and we were pretty happy with the initial results, as guests in the elevator “oo’ed and awwwed” at each passing scene, which includes some of the most iconic locations in Washington.
For this year long project, L.A. Drones helped build a unique experiential elevator ride for the Columbia Center and Sky View Observatory. This project required LAD’s engineering and visual department to create a custom built camera array, that was designed to represent what the human eye would see if they were looking out the SVO elevator. A lot of pre-production went into studying the focal length of the human eye, and overall perception to help create the glass elevator illusion.
The logistics side of this project was intensive. LAD traveled to Seattle over 5 times, and our production and locations team secured over 20 different permits and permissions from different locations within the city. It was a testament to what we can do as end to end production company.
All post production and editing was provided by LAD’s go-to hired gun, Dan Packer, who also edited all of the onsite socials for the Amazon Intersect campaign.
There is a bright future for creating custom visuals within these incredible buildings, and giving visitors an experience while they visit.
